Mini-Camps are a SUCCESS!!

Families of Upper Nashwaak (F.U.N.) is a not-for-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors. Dedicated to providing affordable programming for children and their families, F.U.N. has developed a NEW and EXCITING line up for the summer. 4 day mini camps, varying in theme and age will return for eight weeks of summer. You pick the week / weeks that suit your child's interests and your family's schedule. Each camp has a small fee of $10 / child for 4 days of great F.U.N.


Each camp will be organized and supervised by an adult volunteer. 3 students will be on hand to assist this on-site coordinator. Each camper must bring their own snack and lunch for the day, along with plenty of water!


Registration took place in the Stanley School lobby on Sunday June 7th. Some camps are full but there are a few spots left in others. Call Corinne @ 367-2680 or comment below the blog post of your camp of choice to get your child's name registered before it's too late or to be placed on the waiting list. Someone will confirm if space is available.


ALSO in order to be eligible to receive a discount to be applied to the registration fee for Go-Go gymnastics it is necessary to be registered as a participant in some of our fundraising activities.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!


JOIN US IN THE PARADE! F.U.N. is celebrating 6 years of participating in Stanley's Canada Day activities. this year we will be marching in the parade and invite area children and family members to march with us in support of physical activity. Meet us at the government garage at 10:30 dressed in your finest red and whites!

SPORTS FOR KIDS BASKETBALL CAMP

F.U.N. supports coach Craig Clarkson's basketball camps. This year he will be offering a Junior Camp for kids in grades K - 5 and adding an evening Senior Shooting Camp for boys and girls aged 11 - 15!

GO - GO GYMNASTICS July 6 - 10

AGES: 18 months - 12 years


F.U.N. is extremely pleased to partner with Go -Go Gymnastics to bring this fabulous program to the Stanley area. This is the opportunity for your child to discover the wonderful world of gymnastics with trained professionals along with familiar faces. This state of the art gymnastics center includes bars and rings, vaulting stations with spring boards, tumbling floors, balance beams, obstacle courses, and bouncy castles. Campers are divided into age groups and participate in age appropriate activities.

Location: Stanley School Gym
Toddler camps are 45 minutes: 9 - 9:45

Half - day camps for ages 4 - 12: 9 - noon

** all children 4 and up are invited to stay until 3 with camp counsellors for outdoor and other activities**


IMPORTANT: Fees for Go-Go Gymnastics are as follows - Toddler $55 + hst
- 4 and up $115 + hst

LITTLE FEET GET MOVING!


AGES: (PRESCHOOL) 3 - 5

Activity, activity and more activity mixed with a little bit of everything else might just send your child home ready for a nap! This is a half day camp jam packed with F.U.N. things to learn and do. Help your child make friendships that will carry into the school years and beyond.

Feeling good about yourself is as important for your kids as it is for yourself. Camp Feel Good is sponsored by our Stanley Health Center. Various activities include physical activity, games and crafts.

Consider meeting other parents in the morning and take a refreshing walk! Feel good about yourself!

PLAY WITH ME July 20 - 24


** A NEW AGE GROUP ** Seems 5 and 6 year olds are always the little ones! This camp is designed specifically to bring out the leadership skills in your kindergarten, grade 1 child. This is their opportunity to be role models. A F.U.N. filled week of play, stories, song, crafts and both indoor and outdoor activity promises to give self confidence to your little one.

Preschool age kids will benefit from trying to keep up to "the big kids" with the promise of success!

NATURE CAMP August 4 - 7


A week in the woods ... hiking, picnicing, F.U.N. and learning all at the same time. Learn what to pack for survival in the woods, how to build shelter, what to do if you're lost, or just how to enjoy nature. Discover the great outdoors and identify trees, plants and birds.

This camp is for the woodsman in your family!

Location: Based at the Lion's Club and hiking to various locations.

THEATRE CAMP August 10 - 14


Did you see the F.U.N. musical Christmas production in 2007? It was spectacular!

This camp is for the theatrical child ... or maybe the child prone to theatrics ;o) If they love to perform they will love the stage at the Lion's Club and will learn, practice and perform their roles for parents, grandparents and family friends.

Space is limited. Registration is mandatory to ensure every child has a part.

Our Apologies!!

Our pesky little paying jobs sometimes get in the way of our volunteer responsibilities! We apologize for the confusion caused to those of you who visited our site and were confused by the 2008 summer schedule!!

Hopefully by the end of the weekend all camps will be listed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY JUNE 7th

F.U.N. will be sponsoring a basketball tournament for children in grades 4 - 6. Each participant is asked to be at the school no later than 4:30 and pay a $5.00 registration fee. Multi-aged, co-ed teams will compete in round robin play.

REGISTRATION for summer camps will be held at this time. Please see the June edition of
The Newsletter for information on themes and age ranges for the summer.

YOUNG MODELS submissions will also be accepted. Enter a photo of your child with a $5 fee for each submission. Most photogenic child in a variety of age categories will recieve a professional photography session.
